How To Guide On Garage Sale & Thrift Store Picking
With the economy being very harsh right now, you’re probably like most people looking to increase your income but not having the means to do it. I too was in this very same position until one day I came a crossed an industry that I had no idea existed. I found out you could go to garage sales, or thrift stores and hunt for items to resell on Craigslist, eBay, or your own garage sales. After a year I turned a small venture into a profitable home business where I work my own hours and have financial freedom. By no means am I a millionaire. But I am pulling 60,000$ a year, and am only working only 50-60 hours a month. This method is not a pie in the sky fantasy, but rather a method on starting a legitimate business on making a consistent income, and having the freedom to live your life without having to go and slave at a 9-5 job.
So What Is Picking?
Picking is an industry term for when you go to thrift stores, garage sales, pawn shops etc, and buy items in the stores for cheap. Anywhere you can source inventory at a cheap price, then resell it on many of the online or storefront platforms is what picking is all about. You can literally spend 20$ in a day picking, and turn a 100-200$ profit in almost no time flat. Ask yourself where can you go these days and get 500-1000% net profit? Most people are happy with a 2-3% profit with government bonds, or the interest they get from there banks. But picking can lead to generating massive capital for anything you want to do. I have used the money I have made to fund other small startups on the Internet, and even used to buy silver as a side investment. This is why picking is such a powerful industry and furthermore will be a reason I suggest you jump into it as a legitimate business model.
Where To Pick and What To Pick Up
Like i said, there are 3 main places for a person to pick up items to resell for a profit. Garage sales, thrift stores, and pawn shops all hold items you could buy and resell for a profit very easily. While there isn’t just one item to find constantly, if you know the value of the item and what is being sold for is cheaper then the price you might want to pick it up and resell it on eBay. That said make sure there is enough profit that its worth your time. I would never buy and item for 8$ and sell it for 10$ to make a 2 dollar profit. Remember if it doesn’t put food on the table then don’t touch it. I will be coming out with an ebook soon about this whole businesses so stay tuned because i will post a link to it real soon.
Where to Sell?
When it comes to selling your items there are 4 places i have found that sells products like hotcakes. Below are the 4 area’s where most merchants who do picking resell their items.
eBay: The biggest online merchant website in the world. eBay is an auction website where you can sell you items to a huge marketplace of people. eBay and paypal take a small fee out of each sale so keep that in mind when figuring out your profit margin.
Craigslist: Selling local on Craigslist is easy by putting up ads on Craigslist like a forum. Free to use and very easy to make money doing. You post your items on Craigslist and will get sent emails by interested buyers. You arrange to meet this person to sell the item.
Flea Markets: For a small fee you can open up your own business for a day at a flea market. You will be given an area, or a table to set up shop where you can sell your items. Flea markets attract thousands of hungry buyers looking to score a deal. This is a place where you can capitalize the most buy moving product very easily. In a weekend a person can make a few thousand dollars if they move enough product.
Garage Sales: Just like flea markets you can open up for a day to sell you items to whomever passes by your home. Unlike flea markets its free to do and cost you nothing out of pocket. The only downside is where you home is located at. If you don’t have a good location this can affect your sales, just as much if your in a very hot location for passing visitors.
